The 2005 WSOP Main Event attracted 5,619 players to create a prize pool of over $52 million. Although the WSOP had officially moved to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the final two days in the Main Event would be played out from Binion's Horseshoe. The final table was headlined by Mike Matusow and Andy Black, but it would be Australian Joe Hachem capturing the $7.5 million first prize and taking the WSOP bracelet back Down Under.
