The 2008 Main Event final table was not only the longest to date at over 15 hours, it was also the first year it was delayed nearly four months before players returned in November to play down to a winner. The 6,844-player field created a prize pool of over $64 million, and leading the "November Nine" was Dennis Phillips and Ivan Demidov. With over $9.1 million set aside for first place, it would be Denmark's Peter Eastgate becoming the youngest Main Event winner of all time and first European to win since 2001.
