The 2012 WSOP Europe Main Event attracted 420 entrants and generated a prize pool of €4,032,000 that paid the top 48 places. The final table saw Jason Mercier make his second appearance after a fourth-place finish in 2009, while accomplished players Joseph Cheong, Christopher Brammer, and Paul Tedeschi were looking to win their first WSOP bracelet. One man stood in the way, and it was The Poker Brat himself Phil Hellmuth who emerged victorious to win his 13th WSOP bracelet and the €1,022,376 first-place prize. He joined a short list of players to win both a WSOP and WSOP Europe bracelet in the same year, while also becoming the first WSOP and WSOP Europe Main Event champion.
