The 2014 WSOP Main Event attracted 6,683 players and created a prize pool of over $62.8 million. Dutchman Jorryt van Hoof would enter the final table as chip leader, but the storyline would be based around Mark Newhouse making back-to-back Main Event final tables. Newhouse fell in ninth-place, and van Hoof exited in third as Sweden's Marton Jacobson emerged victorious to win the $10 million first-place prize.
