The 4th Annual World Series of Poker Europe held at Empire Casino in Leicester Square, London, would see an increase to five events which included the introduction of a heads-up tournament. Tournament veterans Phil Laak and Gus Hansen broke through to win their first WSOP bracelet while Jeff Lisandro won his fifth. For the first time in WSOP Europe history, the Main Event was won by an Englishman as James Bord was crowned the champion.
