The 2009 WSOP Europe would see three side events on the schedule that included a £1k No-Limit Hold'em, a £2.5k Pot-Limit Hold'em/Omaha, and a £5k Pot-Limit Omaha. J.P. Kelly became the second player to win a bracelet and both the WSOP and WSOP Europe when he won the No-Limit Hold'em opening event, while Erik Cajelais and Jani Vilmunen won the other two events. Also on the schedule was the Caesars Cup that saw Europe take on the Americas in a best-of-seven series of doubles and heads-up matches to determine international bragging rights.
